Wreaths Across America

COLUMBIA FALLS, Maine — Wreaths Across America (WAA) has announced plans for its 2023 Mobile Education Exhibit (MEE).

Next year’s national tour begins in California in January, then heads to Arizona in March and New Mexico and Southern Colorado in April, according to a news release.

Starting in May, it returns to Texas, then heads to Kentucky and Tennessee in June. It will visit North Carolina, West Virginia and Virginia in July.

In August, the MEE will make stops in Maryland, Delaware and Southern New Jersey. In September, it will return to Pennsylvania, New York and Northern New Jersey. From there, the MEE will make its way up through New England for the next two months, visiting all six New England states before heading home to Maine.

“The goal of the Wreaths Across America Mobile Education Exhibit is to bring communities together and teach about the organization’s mission,” Trish Gardner, mobile education exhibit manager Wreaths Across America, said. “The exhibit serves as a mobile museum, educating visitors about the service and sacrifice of our nation’s heroes as well as to serve as an official ‘welcome home’ station for our nation’s Vietnam Veterans.”

Wreaths Across America announced Thursday the Mobile Education Exhibit plans for 2023.

In January of 2022, the MEE left Maine and began its national tour in Florida and will be finishing this year’s route as a member of the annual “Escort to Arlington.”

The weeklong escort — known to some as the world’s longest veterans’ parade — will make stops at schools and memorials down the East Coast carrying Gold Star and Blue Star Families, veterans and patriots, culminating at Arlington National Cemetery on National Wreaths Across America Day on Saturday, Dec. 17.

Highlights of the 2022 Mobile Education Exhibit national tour include stops in North Caroling, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Missouri, Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, Washington, Oregon, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Kansas, Tennessee and its home state of Maine.

The 2022 tour was bolstered by many local volunteers and volunteer groups.

The MEE and WAA Ambassadors transporting the mobile museum and sharing the mission have officially welcomed home more than 3,300 Vietnam Veterans since it first hit the road in 2019 as part of the organization’s partnership with the United States of America Vietnam War Commemoration.

When the MEE pulls into an area, all veterans, active-duty military, their families and the local community members are invited and encouraged to visit, take a tour and speak with WAA Ambassadors and volunteers.

The public tour stops for the MEE are free and open to all.

Plug Power Green Hydrogen Truck
By Joe Rinehart Agency 12 Jan, 2023
Produced using renewable energy, green hydrogen could help make transportation a carbon-neutral reality—if the cost can match the price of diesel. That is what Plug Power is trying to accomplish by 2030. Go behind the scenes at its operations in New York.

Contract rates have spent the second half of 2022 on a slide, following a downward trendline that spot rates have seen for almost the entire calendar year. Both spot and contract rates are likely to ring in the New Year on the same slope, with the spread between the two narrowing.
2022 Year in Review
By Joe Rinehart Agency 27 Dec, 2022
All players in the global supply chain can agree on one thing: 2022 has been quite the ride! The looming impact of the pandemic, fluctuating economy and wavering political instability are likely to leave lasting effects for many into the new year.

Just because truckers are on the road most of the year — including during the holidays — doesn’t mean that they can’t bring a little Christmas cheer along for the ride.
Plunge in US imports
By Joe Rinehart Agency 15 Dec, 2022
The situation remains far from normal at some U.S. ports. There were still 18 container ships at anchor waiting for a berth in Savannah, Georgia, on Monday. But for the country overall, weakening inbound cargo volumes are bringing imports close to where they were before the pandemic-induced spending splurge.
Rail Strike
By Joe Rinehart Agency 08 Dec, 2022
Most labor disputes never end up being debated in Congress. But thanks to a nearly century-old law that regulates labor relations only when it comes to railroads and airlines, what otherwise would be strictly an economic issue became a political one.
Rail strike
By Joe Rinehart Agency 30 Nov, 2022
A looming rail strike next month would send an aftershock through the trucking industry as the flow of goods via rail would need to be rerouted by truck – the capacity for which doesn't exist in large quantities.

One of rail's largest labor unions voted against a tentative agreement with employers, setting the stage for a strike in two weeks. Other freight railroad unions have pledged to join the possible strike.
