Safety

Electronic Logbooks:
FMCSA has mandated that all carriers not already using ELECTRONIC ON BOARD RECORDING DEVICES will be required to use EOBR devices beginning December of 2017.

Carriers who are already compliant will have an additional 4 years to complete implementation. Landstar is one of the companies already compliant; well in advance of this safety legislation.

Landstar was able to accomplish the transition by requiring all newly signed-on drivers to install and use electronic devices for logging. Drivers who have proven safety and demonstrated accuracy in using their paper logs are not required to make the change until they buy their next new truck. Landstar carrier group has more than 71 percent of the fleet compliant with the new rules over a year ahead of the new ruling taking affect.
Landstar, long known for its safety-first culture, continues to emphasize safety, security and compliance.  At the Joe Rinehart Agency, we take pride in delivering the safest, most reliable transportation services available. Our expansive safety program includes strict operator qualification requirements, dynamic orientation and training initiatives, and extensive customer and public outreach programs. This results in virtually claim-free service and an accident rate well below the industry average.

Customers are invited to participate in the company’s cooperative safety program - M.U.S.T. - Mutual Understanding of Safety Together. The M.U.S.T. program brings customers together with Landstar representatives to deliver responsive, hands-on solutions for each shipment.

At the Joe Rinehart Agency, we know education is the key to safer highways. Our safety programs cover every aspect of the business including equipment, business capacity owners and operators, agents, employees, customers and the public at large. Through extensive safety orientation programs, all Landstar business partners and employees are made aware of the important role they play in keeping our roads safe.

Landstar’s expansive outreach programs include monthly conference calls, where company executives and staff join the business community, agents, business capacity owners and operators and law enforcement representatives in an open exchange of ideas on how to operate more safely. If you would like to participate in a safety conference call please contact us at: joe@atllandstar.com and he will arrange for this to happen at a later date.

Landstar works closely with the U.S. Department of Transportation to increase public awareness about safely sharing the road with big trucks. Landstar business capacity owners bring No-Zone trailers to schools, rest stops, weigh stations and other public places to demonstrate how motorists can make themselves more visible to professional truck operators.

Landstar's hallmark Safety Thursday program keeps agents, business capacity owners, operators and employees aware of specific issues. The third Thursday of each month is designated Safety Thursday with various safety programs and activities scheduled across the country. The process generates concrete ideas and solutions for enhancing safety procedures. Safety is so important to Landstar that the company adheres to a corporate philosophy of "safety before service." It's a philosophy that's made Landstar an industry leader.
